Shaggydog Another Version Release “Di Sayidan”

It’s always nice to listen to old songs in different colors and shades. Last month, on February 21, one of Shaggydog’s hits entitled “Di Sayidan” was reinterpreted and officially released through DoggyHouse Records. Not enough there, recently Shaggy re-released the song “Di Sayidan” which was composed into keroncong music.

According to Shaggydog, the choice of Keroncong music was not without reason. This was decided because one of their personnel, Lilik Sugiyarto (keyboard), is also actively playing in the Keroncong Orchestra (OK) Puspa Jelita. “In the past, this group was founded by my father (Supardi), the year was forgotten because it existed before I was born. After your father died, I continued to lead,” explained Lilik, who also plays DX Piano, bass and Hammond organ as well as backing vocals in this version of Keroncong.

In this re-arranged version by Lilik Sugiyarto, Di Sayidan is presented with a combination of several modern variations of Keroncong from Solo to Jakarta styles. “In my opinion, almost all Keroncong styles are represented in this song, there is even an element of Javanese Langgam ethnicity in it with an arrangement that is “nomic” (looks younger – ed) when the Javanese say,” said Lilik about the Keroncong style performed by Di Sayidan. Just listen to the variations of the Cello that imitate the drum style, the calm rhythm of the Guitar and the Flute that complements each other with the Violin, as well as the combination of Cak and Cuk that go hand in hand. In the midst of the song re-arrangement process, the idea came up to invite a singer from Bantul, Ndarboy Genk, to strengthen the Javanese style in this version of Keroncong. Singer and composer of Dangdut in Javanese language, last year Ndarboy Genk was nominated for 3 Ambyar Awards, an award event from MNCTV for Dangdut and Campursari musicians who sing songs about broken hearts.

The interpretation of the iconic song “Di Sayidan” doesn’t stop there. Previously, some of Shaggydog’s songs had been remixed by other musicians, for example Libertaria who remixed “Ambilkan Gelas” a la Dangdut Elektronika or even the song “Rock Da Mic” which was also made EP Rock Da Remix with several music & DJs include Sir Ari Wvlv, Alex D.P.M.B and KMKZ (Gerald’s duo before Weird Genius).

Oia, later the regular version of the song and Keroncong will be physically released in the form of a double single cassette. After that, Di Sayidan merchandise in collaboration with artists Wok The Rock  will also be available in t-shirt form. Further information regarding the purchase of merchandise and cassettes can be followed through the Instagram account @shaggydogjogja
