48 years is not a short time. And today (05/05) the legend of Indonesian rock music, God Bless, has reached 48 years in his career in the Indonesian music industry. To celebrate, the quartet This old rock band, which consists of Achmad Albar (vocals), Donny Fattah (bass), Ian Antono (guitar) and Fajar Satriatama (drums), has re-released a single titled “Mulai Hari ini”.
“So, if “Starting Today” God Bless is 48 years old, we never feel old at all because the essence of music should be separated from the dimensions of space and time. Which we to do is to retrospect the works that have been produced” said God bless “One of the ways is by rearranging “Starting Today”, created by Ian Antono and Fajar Budiman, who once graced the film ‘How Funny It Is (This Country)’ by Deddy Mizwar” he continued
When the film was released, at that time Ian Antono also worked on the scoring with Thoersi Argeswara where this collaboration was awarded the Citra Trophy as the Best Music Arranger at the 2010 Indonesian Film Festival.
The song “Starting Today” itself has a classic rock n roll rhythm, a color that has appeared on the debut album through the songs “Sesat” and “Rock Di Air”. The difference is the theme. “Starting Today” describes the journey of a human child from black to white, leaving the darkness to go to God’s way. This is an enrichment of the God Bless theme in exploring aspects of life, from social, humanism, environment, criticism, friendship and so on.
As a trivia, last year, on August 19, 2020, after releasing the single ‘For my Indonesia’, the figure of God Bless was also immortalized by PT Pos Indonesia in a special series of stamps for Famous Indonesian Musicians.
