The Bōsōzoku are known for modifying their motorcycles in strange and flashy ways, called Kaizōsha (“modified vehicles”). The general style of bōsōzoku bike modifications seems to combine elements of an American chopper bike and a British café racer. Examples of modifications taken from this style are raised handlebars as in choppers or oversized fairings such as those found on cafe racers (although bōszoku usually mount them much higher on the bike than in their original position, and angled upwards at the front).
